Jesus Saved Us From Sin and Death

None of that could happen without a cost. God is just — He can't simply overlook sin. But because He loved us too much to leave us separated from Him, He sent Jesus to pay what we never could.

Jesus Saved Us From Sin and Death

"He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins" (Ephesians 1:7, NLT). That word purchased carries weight. Salvation is free to us, but it cost Jesus everything.

What happens at the cross is sometimes called a double transfer — our sin placed on Jesus, His righteousness placed on us. Which means you don't stand before God in your track record. You stand in His. That's not a small theological footnote. It's the whole foundation. Romans 5:8 puts it plainly: God showed His love by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners — not after we cleaned up, not once we figured it out, but right in the middle of the mess. If you've been carrying guilt or shame over something you can't seem to shake, that's exactly what the cross was for. Not just the manageable stuff — all of it.
